A world where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities shape their own futures, thriving because of exceptional, personalized support, and inclusive communities.
Our Mission
The Village of Merici provides an innovative approach to support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities focused on independent living.
Our Values
What we ask of each other.
Belonging
We facilitate a sense of self and community.
A coach who knows your name. A Book Club where everyone has a seat. A monthly dinner the residents plan themselves. Birthdays remembered. A friend across the hallway.
Integrity
We act with honesty, accountability, and quality of character.
We do what we say. We tell you when we make a mistake. We keep our promises. We say no plainly when the answer has to be no. When you call, someone answers.
Respect & Dignity
We honor each person's self-determination.
The People we support choose their own routines, their own friends, their own work. What time to eat dinner. Who to invite over. Which class to take this week, and which one to skip.
Support
We model care and commitment for others.
One coach. One person. One conversation at a time. A ride to a doctor's appointment. A skill learned over the kitchen counter. A Tuesday that ends better than it started.
2026 to 2029 Strategic Plan
Where we're headed.

Grow what works.
Build new homes when we can. Add wrap-around services like transportation, behavior consultation, job coaching, and in-house vocational rehabilitation. Use technology in ways that help the People we support live more independently. Find programs that work and figure out how to do more of them.

Build the team.
Hire coaches who care about this work. Train them well. Help them grow into the next set of leaders. Build a Board of Directors that looks like the community we serve.

Strengthen the village.
Make sure every person in this village feels like they belong here: residents, families, staff, partners. Plan more gatherings, more shared meals, more reasons to show up. Keep everyone informed about what is happening and who needs what.

Build a resilient foundation.
Find more ways to fund this work. Welcome more monthly donors. Tell our story to more people across central Indiana. Spend every dollar with care.
