A volunteer driver program. We pair a volunteer driver with an individual with disabilities for easy curbside rides in the Lawrence area, Northside Indianapolis, and Carmel.
Over 5,000 adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities live in Indianapolis.
The majority do not drive and must rely on others for all transportation needs. One of the greatest obstacles faced by adults with disabilities is not being able to drive. Not having transportation significantly limits one’s ability to access the community, leaving a large percentage of individuals feeling isolated and lonely. Popular on-demand transportation services are too costly. City bus routes are difficult to navigate.
Merici City Rides exists to close that gap, one ride at a time.

and looking for a meaningful way to give a few hours a week.

while your children are in school, with time during the day.

and could take someone to work on your way to work.
Volunteer drivers come from across our community, including the North End Neighbors, a volunteer group from St. Christopher Episcopal Church.
