What the support looks like.
This process takes on many forms at various levels: helping someone start their day, making a grocery list, transportation to work, understanding finances, healthy eating, personal grooming, social and relationship skills, self-advocacy, and many other basic needs motivated by an independent lifestyle. Services help build confidence, to think beyond oneself, and to engage in the community.
How services are delivered.
Village of Merici is an approved provider of Medicaid Waiver Services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our provider designation runs through the Bureau of Disabilities Services (BDS), a division of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). Services are provided within Indianapolis and surrounding counties.
Our approach is individual and person-centered. Every plan is built with the person it is for, not for groups. One coach, one person, at a time.

Technology in the home.
We support the integration of individualized assistive technology into homes at Merici Village, The Brunette and North End. Each residence can be equipped with technology tailored to the person’s needs, and our team provides assessments, setup, and training to help residents use these tools effectively in their daily lives.
The statewide shortage of direct support professionals has left many eligible individuals waiting for services. To reach more people, we have incorporated universal technology tools that increase independence, enhance safety, and reduce the amount of in-person support required. In 2025, we presented this housing-and-technology model at the Indiana Affordable Housing Conference and the Assistive Technology Industry Association Conference.
