The Merici Village Apartments are affordable housing for adults with developmental disabilities. Individuals are independent with their own lease and fully equipped ADA compliant apartment units. This is not a segregated community but rather an opportunity for adults with various abilities meeting low income limits to live in the beautiful Lawton Loop Lawrence community – a community within a community! Residents can live independently with or without supports depending on their need. Residents needing supports can choose their own providers. Support services are provided on a fee for service basis based on a person centered plan.
Located at 5707 Lawton Loop East Drive Indianapolis IN the Merici Village Apartments offer one bedroom and two bedroom apartments designed for low income households with individuals with developmental disabilities. The Merici Village Apartments are a newly re-rehabilitated army barracks located on the former Ft. Harrison Parade Grounds. The 21-unit building is handicap accessible. The Merici Village Apartments design incorporate cutting edge “green” elements and energy efficient technology. There are 16 one bedroom units and 4 two-bedroom units and 1 Program Coordinators unit. The apartments include a full kitchen and an accessible bathroom. There are 2 common areas located on each of the residents floors for community activities. Supportive Services will be provided by the Village of Merici, Inc. on a fee per service basis.
The Village of Merici offers a uniquely interdependent community of residents, support staff , community coaches and families to create an environment that affords the residents a solid foundation on which to grow as individuals in self-sufficiency and independence and in relation to others in the community.
The lower level includes a multipurpose room, a training kitchen, conference area, laundry facilities and outside secure patio area. The Village of Merici, Inc. offices are located in the lower level.
Affordable rents are income-restricted in accordance with the Rental Housing Tax Credit (RHTC) program and other regulatory agreements.

The Village of Merici is thrilled to be awarded a $5,000 Power Grant from the Indianapolis Power and Light Company! The Power Grants program enables IPL Employees to nominate an organization that fits into one of the Indianapolis Power and Light Company’s five giving areas: community enhancement, economic development, education, environment, and arts and culture. The Village of Merici is honored to receive the Power Grant which will be used to support individuals with various (dis)abilities to live in the Indianapolis community with supports that enable them to lead safe, fulling, joyful lives on their own as adults in the Central Indiana community.
